Lesley Aine Mckeown
This earring pair is created with traditional silversmithing techniques. The artist is drawn to the unusual and collects stones that reflect this idea for her jewelry. The 24k gold is attached to the fine silver with a Korean technique called Keum-boo, which is the fusing of a thick layer of gold foil onto silver. Can be worn as everyday earrings or statement pieces for special occasions—this handmade set of jewelry will have everyone asking you about it!
About the Artist

Lesley Aine Mckeown
Each piece is created in my studio in the tradition of the American Studio Art Jewelry movement of the 1940’s through 60’s which dictates the work is created solely in the artist’s studio. My technical approach is simple and low tech, I collect vintage tools and enjoy using them everyday. I love the idea that a hammer used by another jeweler 50 years ago is making a mark on my work today. One of my favorite things is my bench, it was my father’s and I have used it for more than 30 years now. I consider it a talisman. I am drawn to the unusual and collect stones that reflect this. It is wonder to me still the vast array of beautiful material that comes from the earth. Often my designs are motivated by the stones and complimenting their beauty is all that is needed.
