Dichroic Bird With Purple Tail Ornament

Laurel Grey

This colorful bird by Laurel Grey is made from dichroic glass, hand-cut, screen-printed for fine face and wing details and then kiln-fired for permanence. Dichroic glass is magical; depending on the light’s direction, you will get several brilliant colors as it moves. When placed on a tree, it’s sure to bounce colorful light around your room. Later on you can hang it any number of places to enjoy year round.

Each of these ornaments is handcrafted and unique, so you will get one that looks similar to either of the ones in the product picture.

About this Artist

Laurel Grey

Laurel grew up in Japan, Germany and Texas and spent most of her adult life in Washington State and the central coast of California, moving to Wisconsin in 2007. Her glass reflects a blend of all these various geographies and cultures. She’s particularly influenced by the Japanese aesthetic of bringing the outside in, in close harmony with the natural world. Her work includes coffee tables with glass leaves, branches and stones under glass; strands and windchimes of floating glass leaves; window and wall panels made with glass leaves, stones and cultured seaglass.
