Glass Monarch Wall Panel

Laurel Grey

The glass leaves by Laurel Grey in this wall art have been individually hand-cut, hand-painted and kiln-fired for permanence; they will never scratch or fade. The leaves are foiled and soldered together, along with natural beach stones and fossils from Door County Wisconsin to add dimension and texture. Cultured and colorful sea glass adds additional interest to the pieces. A delicate glass monarch butterfly adds an element of surprise, its wings are real and forever preserved in glass. The butterfly died of natural causes, its wings were found by the artist on a Door County Wisconsin beach.

No patterns are ever used; each panel is truly one of a kind and will add a luxurious touch of nature to any room.

About this Artist

Laurel Grey

Laurel grew up in Japan, Germany and Texas and spent most of her adult life in Washington State and the central coast of California, moving to Wisconsin in 2007. Her glass reflects a blend of all these various geographies and cultures. She’s particularly influenced by the Japanese aesthetic of bringing the outside in, in close harmony with the natural world. Her work includes coffee tables with glass leaves, branches and stones under glass; strands and windchimes of floating glass leaves; window and wall panels made with glass leaves, stones and cultured seaglass.
