Raymond Bock’s architecturally inspired containers and vessels are created using solid hardwoods, bent and straight laminations, and veneers. He uses woods of contrasting color and value to delineate the elements of each piece. Most of his experience has been in creating furniture pieces. He has shifted the emphasis of his work to vessels and containers to allow himself more freedom from functional constraints and to explore forms on a very small scale that are inspired by much larger scale forms.
