Dana Martell

Malibu based designer Dana Martell comes to jewelry design as a natural progression from twelve years designing her highly recognized handcrafted line of shoes and handbags. She brings to jewelry her keen eye for colors, an eclectic mix of materials and the timeless art of peyote stitching, crochet and wire work. The natural wonder of gemstones can be traced to a grandmother who collected uncut stones and geodes that would then shine a black light on the rocks to expose their radiant colors. Along with the love of materials Dana has a passion for hand crafted needlework. Peyote, an off-loom bead weaving technique used from ancient Egypt to Native America beadwork is heavily incorporated in her bracelet designs. Using the peyote stitch she moves this ancient craft forward using gemstones, Japanese seed beads, metal, crystals, and leather arriving at the contemporary aesthetic that is the core focus of the Martell collection.
