At the Annual Gala in 2024, Chad Luberger and Gail McCoy talked about exploring new ways to use her current paper technique. She tried painting the whole background but it didn't have the distinct variations the paper provided. Then, McCoy went hiking for a month. The expansive sky out west got her to think about painting the intense blues int he sky and continue with the great colors and patterns the paper provides for everything else. 

For McCoy, the result is fresh and contemporary; The contrast in texture between sky and paper intensifies the uniqueness of the paper.
