Sharon Miller-Thompson

A lifelong artist, Sharon has worked in many media over the decades.

“I am most inspired to create functional artwork that tells a story through the materials, possibly clay, glass, steel, copper and often found objects.”

Sharon creates functional, fun and unique outdoor garden art with her welding and metalworking skills. From mixing metals to welding steel and using glass or found objects to create colorful accents, Sharon creates one-of-a-kind pieces that give each landscape its own unique flavor. Her pieces make excellent focal points, offering both beauty and a sense of whimsey. Each piece expresses her distinctive flair and captures the imagination of all who encounter it.

Both Minnesota natives, Sharon and her husband, Steve, share their century old home in St. Paul with their 2 dogs, Marlowe and Holly.  The house also serves as headquarters for Yardly Art studios, with both dogs overseeing most Yardly Art daily operations.

Sharon received a BA in Fine Art from Macalester College, an MS from Winona State University, and has taken many welding classes at St. Paul College.
