Abstract Earth No. 303
Cindy Lesperance
On a flight with her son, a pilot, Lesperance found herself captivated by the dual nature of the world when viewed from above - simultaneously familiar and abstract. This led me to explore and discover the abstractness of the earth from an aerial perspective. Moving beyond literal representation, Lesperance's Abstract Earth pieces delve into the aerial perspective without tethering itself to the nature landscape. Here, the artwork transforms into a combination of colors, shapes, and textures, transcending the boundaries of the familiar and inviting viewers into a realm where abstraction reigns supreme.

About the Artist
Cindy Lesperance
Cindy Lesperance is an award-winning artists based in Chicago, where she operates her private studio in the northwest suburbs.
Cindy loves spending time in nature, traveling, and learning about other cultures. Always aware of color, pattern, and texture, these life experiences are inspiration for her work. Exploring various mediums over the years, including mixed media, printmaking, photography, and cold wax, Lesperance has found her artistic home in encaustic, a fusion of beeswax, Damar resin, and pigment. It captivates me with its translucency and the limitless dimensionality that can be achieved with it. Very early in her exploration of encaustic (2013), she developed a signature method of applying minute droplets of medium to the surface of the painting. This technique creates a tactile texture that engages those who encounter it and makes her work instantly recognizable. Cindy's artist journey continues to be an exploration of this technique, a realm where she pushes the boundaries and uncovers new possibilities. Each piece is an invitation to color, texture and form, a reflection of her lifelong love for nature and her fascination with the world's diverse tapestry of cultures.
