Quote from the artist: "The first part of created this platter was to reassemble the broken pieces with fast-acting epoxy mixed with bottled faux gold dust. Once that was completed, I cut very thin strips of wood, sanded, and glued to the back of the gap. Following this, I drilled and glued rivets and staples to help secure the wooden straps. I then filled the gap with epoxy putty and to have it resemble a copper metal patch, I painted with copper-infused paint and weathered the paint per directions using the solutions for is purpose. I coated the surface with thin epoxy for security, sanded and then coated with polyurethane."

About the Artist
      Richard Einerson
Richard’s love of woodworking started when he cleared diseased trees from his backyard and wanted to use the lumber in a meaningful way. While working on larger projects like flooring and furniture he admired the natural beauty of wood grain and wanted to find more ways to use the precious resource of salvaged wood. He learned the craft of woodturning which opened a whole new world of possibilities. Richard specializes in turned bowls and vessels as well as decorative boxes, cutting boards and other specialty items.
