Indigo Essence

Linda Welch

The freedom Linda Welch has found in alcohol ink art has its genesis in the magnificent colors and joy that surrounds her in Door County. Aurora shows a beautiful night in Door County during the Northern Lights.

Alcohol inks are brightly colored, acid-free, dye based paints that create free flowing textures and design. They are fast drying and evaporate quickly, requiring a non-porous surface such as synthetic paper, ceramic tile, or a specially prepared canvas. This piece has been sealed with 3 coats of Lamar Varnish and UV archival protection.

About the Artist

Linda Welch

Linda Welch

Linda Redmann Welch is an alcohol ink artist living in Door County. Her work with alcohol ink is a journey into the unpredictable and fluid abstract expression. Each piece is created with a sense of discovery, allowing the ink to flow freely across the surface and interact with itself in surprising, organic ways. Working with alcohol ink tends to be a surrender of control. The inks bleed, blend, and evaporate, creating layers of depth.  The collection is inspired, by the nature of Door County’s raw beauty. Welch's hope is that viewers will find connections within the flowing shapes and vibrant colors.  Each piece is a one-of-a-kind expression, brought to life by the dance of ink.

Welch is a lifetime member of the Alcohol Ink Art Society, the Global Emerging Artist Platform, the Alcohol Ink World Gallery, and a 2023 Winner of the Art In the Door Competition sponsored by Destination Door County.
