Sunny Side Up
Clarey Wamhoff
A sense of place has always been an integral part of Clarey Wamhoff’s life. From childhood drawings of cozy houses to her recreation of traditional quilt patterns, she has explored the combination of patterns and colors that evoke home. Focusing on spaces, shapes and patterns, she searches to find the essence of what she is trying to express, using color and form. She simplifies wherever possible allowing her paintings to be an abstraction. The artist loves that her paintings are often described as heartfelt and happy.

About the Artist

Clarey Wamhoff
After studying art history in college, Clarey’s first professional artistic endeavor was creating a small company, Creature Comforts. She designed and created soft sculptures and quilts for children, and consequently she was named a top female entrepreneur by a local television station. She provided custom sewing for several area design shops and studios and pursued her passion of quilting.
Over the years, her love of art has led her to study drawing, calligraphy, water colors, woodblock printing, jewelry making, and weaving. In 2007, she began painting with acrylics. It has been her passion ever since. The freedom she feels with the paintbrush has allowed her to unleash her imagination. She is excited about her recent work in which she feels she has achieved a combination of her love for quilting and wood block printing with her landscape painting.
