The Golden Bird of Good Fortune
Jill Davis
What if the man who owned the goose that laid the golden eggs had been grateful and generous rather than greedy? By killing the goose to get all her eggs at once he destroyed not only the mother goose and her future eggs, but also the possibility that someday one of the golden eggs might hatch. If the man had given thanks for his lick by nurturing and cherishing that first special goose, who knows - he might have ended up with a whole flock of geese laying dozens of golden eggs every day! Good fortune grows when it is nourished with gratitude, with kindness, with love, and most of all when it is shared.
Every golden bird is sculpted by hand from hot glass at the Henrietta Glass studio in Pawtucket, RI - making each bird a little different from the rest of the flock. The golden effect comes from fusing micro-particles of gold mica to the surface of the galss while it is about 2000 degrees.

About the Artist
Jill Davis
Born and raised just outside Boston, Massachusetts, Jill Henrietta Davis began her career in glass at the New York Experimental Glass Workshop while studying at the Parsons School of Design. Upon completion of her BFA in 1991 she became the first Parsons student to earn a degree with a specialization in glass.
In 2003, after 15 years of making one-of-a-kind artworks in glass, Jill undertook a new challenge by founding Henrietta Glass, a limited production studio. Born from the idea that it is even harder to design a really great piece of glass that can be readily reproduced than a really great one-of-a-kind, Henrietta Glass strives to bring excellent design and craftsmanship to audiences outside the limited world of fine art galleries. With smart design, contemporary colors and a sense of humor, Henrietta Glass seeks to add art to the home, office or gift giving.
