Morning Light

Morning Light

Sue Ellibee

In Sue Ellibee's collage work, she uses the elements of color, texture and shape to design a version of nature. This artistic direction has given her an opportunity to use visual skills in a new way–to interpret and simplify the natural landscape.

Ellibee paint papers and create textures on recycled grocery-store bags. She hand-cut the papers, to give the piece a more handcrafted feel, then assemble them on the board.

It’s the details that count. The colors and textures. The seasons. How things change. How both the artwork and her change and evolve.

Sue's work can be described as modern folk art. She loves that. Her work has a craftsman feel to it with the pieces of cut kraft paper and the use of raw materials. Even the frames are handcrafted by an artisan in unfinished wood.

She explores her surroundings and tries to show the narrative from her point of view. What Ellibee creates is not a replication of what is there, but how she see things in shapes and colors.

Out Of State Sales Tax

By law, we are required to charge sales tax in Illinois. We understand that seeing multiple taxes on your order can be confusing or frustrating! Plum Bottom Gallery is required by law to collect and remit sales tax not only to the state but also to all applicable municipalities where the purchase is shipped or processed.

Because of this, your order may include state, county, and local municipal taxes. These rates are determined by the state’s tax system — we don’t have the ability to adjust or remove them.

Every dollar of sales tax collected goes directly to the appropriate state and municipalities. None of these funds stay with Plum Bottom. This process ensures that we stay compliant with tax laws and can continue offering our collections to customers nationwide.

About the Artist

Sue Ellibee

Sue Ellibee

Sue Ellibee’s collage artwork is an extension of her lifelong work in graphic design. In her collage pieces, she uses elements of color and texture to create her own interpretation of nature. This artistic direction has given Ellibee the opportunity to apply her visual skills in a new way—interpreting and simplifying the natural landscape.

She paints papers and creates textures on recycled grocery-store bags, with kraft paper backgrounds forming the visual vocabulary of her work. Thinner, lightweight bags allow her to layer papers for her floral compositions.

Working on these collages has been a joy for Ellibee and has allowed her to explore new ways of seeing the world around her.

She recently moved back to Wisconsin after spending nine years in Georgia and Tennessee. While the southern mountains are beautiful, the Midwest is where her roots are. Ellibee has immersed herself in all things Wisconsin, and her artwork reflects both the feeling of coming home and the experience of seeing familiar landscapes with fresh eyes.
