Trisha Spice
After needing a change in her art practice due to life events, Trisha Spice looked to her studio for therapy. Being intrigued by the idea of combining some of the realistic aspects of her paintings with some more abstract ideas allowed Spice to create her newest series, Lessons in Texture. Spice had the desire to design a series a bit more abstract by playing with clean lines and different texture blocks. She though it would be interesting to take elements of her current series and then zoom in on the techniques she was using, as if the paintings were cut into strips and then pasted onto a new canvas! Spice found that there was something very calming about taping off each section, working on them one at a time, then pulling the tape back to reveal a clean and perfect line, dividing off each block. The design and process of making these pieces came to her so clearly; each completed small block feeling like a tiny finished painting making it an interesting series of work.

About the Artist
Trisha Spice
Trisha is a painter who captures the essence of nature through her travels and translates it onto canvas. Inspired by her childhood exploring the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the Outer Banks of North Carolina, her work reflects a lifelong love of adventure and discovery.
Trisha's artistic journey began young with painting cartoons on her bedroom walls, which blossomed into creating whimsical murals for children's spaces. After raising a family, she returned to her artistic passion in 2018, fueled by a commission to paint a large mural for her children's elementary school library.
Today Trisha continues to explore the world, finding inspiration for her art whether hiking or skiing in the woods, or soaking up the sun on a beach with her family. Back in her home studio she translates these experiences into vibrant paintings a full-time artist.
